After last week's reading there have been a number of entries about the environment issues facing China leading up to the Olympics and I've been following James Fallows blog on Atlantic Monthly's website who has been living in Beijing for the last year or two. He's been taking pictures from his hotel room that capture the air quality (or lack thereof). These two pictures are striking. The first is from a Feb 17, after ten days of vacation for the Year of the Rat, and the other is 4 days later.
Fallows points out that if ten days they were able to get that kind of clarity from the sky then it wouldn't be too hard to get the skies clear again for the Olympics (or permanently) if China changed its policies.
