Unbelievable, the price of barrel of oil has reached 117, I do not doubt that $120 will be reached by the end of this month/maybe week. I came across with some articles that are not favorable for renewable.
Even that renewable combined with Hydrocarbons might be a solution in the short run. The environment are not getting the acceptance that we would like to have. In some cities have happened some protest against bio fuels saying the crops have been destined for other issues, and poor people don't have anything to eat. Brazil, Haiti, Cameroon, Niger and Indonesia are dealing with protest against Bio fuels. Few months ago BioF was considered that with a combination of efforts could help to reduce carbon emissions, and energy supply for some regions. But the problem is going to another level.
As Jeroen van der Veer, chief executive of Royal Dutch Shell, said. In the short run bio fuels are not the solution, people is expecting too much from this source of energy. But way much severe was what The oil minister for Qatar, a member of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, said:
"Now the world is facing a shortage of food," ....."I don't think we should blame oil, we should blame bio fuels."
"But when you have a combination of things happening at the same time -- increasing demand for energy-intensive food, terrific droughts, things like that -- then add to that the competition in certain markets for food and fuel, the preconditions are there, William Ramsay,."..the IEA's deputy executive director.
With this it seems that Solar and Wind Energy are getting some popularity among people.
