Continued M&A Activity in Solar Industry

Last week, I blogged about the increasing levels of M&A in the solar industry, with manufacturing and development capacities being brought together and scale, both geographical and in terms of development and manufacturing capacity, bringing competitive advantage to the largest players.

On Friday, yet another major aquisition was announced, this time bringing Renewable NRG's expertise and client base in Oregon under the SunEdison flag.

Both companies have employed an innovative business model that offers customers long term solar power purchase agreements in lieu of any upfront costs.

It seems to be the case that as SunEdison goes, so goes the U.S. solar industry, so look for more emphasis on this kind of business model in the coming years.
