You probably noticed the news coverage of the recent tornado near Atlanta and the severe drought in GA. I visited Georgia Tech in Atlanta this weekend. I saw some of the buildings downtown boarded up with windows. Most of the fountains at the Olympic park and on campus were turned off.
I found the water conservation flyers posted on campus pretty interesting. Some suggestions include.
1. Wear clothes more than once before washing
2. Turn off the water while washing your hair in the shower
3. Shower every other day
Most of the students I talked to did not change their behavior. They felt that the drought was primarily media "global warming" hype.
Its unfortunate that a severe drought does not motivate conservation, most assume the rain will eventually come (luckily, in this case it did).
