Right-Turn for Bluer Skies

I saw a story on KXAN News the other day about UPS saving gas and sparing CO2 emissions by planning their routes to only turn right on deliveries. By using a computer program to avoid left-hand turns, it may only save a trivial amount of gas per vehicle but, when multiplied by a fleet of 88,000 vehicles, their right-turn only policy has led to a decrease of 3 million gallons of fuel over 28 million miles.
They are also including a line of hybrid vehicles that are expected to reduce fuel consumption by 44,000 gallons per year, which is equivalent to 457 metric tons of CO2.
