New Flash!!
Kosovo's recent move toward independence brings with it big worries for Serbia. Serbia has recently agreed with Russia that it will allow the South Stream pipeline to be built through there lands. To paraphrase Serbian President Boris Tadic: the move was made in an attempt to secure the foreseeable economic future of Serbia, a country, that is an economic island among the many former Soviet states.
It is amazing to me how just a little instability can leverage smaller countries into the will of the superpowers so quickly. I think it really quite unfair. The energy crunch took a big, big munch.
