The Austin American Statesman printed an LA Times article yesterday discussing the proposal to make the polar bear the first victim that is listened as "threatened with extinction because of melting ice from a warming planet".
If this classification sticks (which I believe it will), what will the affects be on polluters in the US? We've discussed the implications of air pollution on the world climate (a power plant in Ohio affecting the air in New England). Will Ohio have to clean up its act because of this bear? Even bigger - how will this affect China?
