Hot Politics presents another example of how the Vice President works to subvert open policy debates within the White House. His behavior on energy mirrors his actions to undermine former Secretary of State Colin Powell in the lead up to Gulf War II. History will not judge Cheney kindly. His actions subvert open discussion and dialogue. He uses back door channels to push policy in secret and change policy without others knowledge. Twenty years from now Cheney will be remember for acting unethically and giving the President bad advice while actively trying to subvert the influence of other experts within government. Why Bush has not dumped Cheney is a mystery that few, including members of his own party, understand.
